Role overview
EPAM is hiring a Lead Software Engineer - Java with Azure to guide engineering work on scalable Java microservices and backend platforms running in Azure.
The role owns features through delivery, ensures clean code and strong APIs, and helps improve CI/CD and performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop, design, and maintain applications using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
- Lead feature ownership from concept through deployment with a focus on performance and scalability.
- Support analysis, design, testing, and release activities across the software development life cycle.
- Produce clean, reusable, testable code and conduct detailed code reviews.
- Diagnose and fix backend and frontend defects across different environments.
- Create and integrate RESTful APIs connecting frontend and backend services.
- Tune API latency and database queries to improve backend performance.
- Help maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum practices including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of development work experience.
- At least 8 years of professional full-stack development experience using Java, Spring Boot, and Azure.
