Kitchen Technician

Job Purpose

Maintenance Duties

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain ovens, grills, fryers, cooking ranges, refrigeration equipment, dishwashers, ventilation systems, ice machines, coffee machines, and other food-service equipment.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and basic refrigeration-related faults.
• Attend emergency breakdowns and restore equipment to operational condition promptly.
• Perform routine inspections according to the hotel maintenance schedule.

Technical Work

• Carry out basic electrical work on wiring, switches, sockets, contactors, relays, thermostats, and control panels.
• Check gas-operated equipment for leaks or operational issues and coordinate with qualified specialists when required.
• Conduct regular checks of refrigeration and temperature-controlled equipment.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, spare parts, and equipment breakdowns.
• Assist with the installation, commissioning, and replacement of new kitchen equipment.

Coordination and Safety

• Coordinate with kitchen and food and beverage teams regarding equipment issues and maintenance requirements.
• Respond to maintenance requests from hotel departments.
• Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized repairs.
• Follow hotel health, safety, hygiene, fire-safety, and UAE safety procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area after completing maintenance activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Diploma, ITI, or technical certification in Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, or a related field is required.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience as a Kitchen Technician, Kitchen Equipment Technician, or in a similar role is required.
• Previous experience in a hotel, hospitality, restaurant, or commercial kitchen environment is preferred.
• Good knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and maintenance procedures is required.
• Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems is required.
• Knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC systems is advantageous.
• Knowledge of gas-operated kitchen equipment is preferred.
• Ability to read basic electrical wiring diagrams and equipment manuals is required.
• Familiarity with preventive and corrective maintenance practices is required.
