About the Role
Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island seeks a Junior Sous Chef to support kitchen operations in Abu Dhabi. The role involves assisting the Executive Chef, supervising junior staff, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring food safety.

Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and directing food preparation activities while supervising junior kitchen staff and supporting their professional development
- Properly measure, portion, and prepare all food items according to established specifications, quality standards, and departmental procedures
- Cook all menu items to proper specifications in a timely manner, ensuring consistency and excellence with every plate
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, pots, pans, steamers, grills, and ovens
- Ensure proper food temperatures are maintained, food is stored correctly, and all items meet freshness and quality standards
- Support menu planning initiatives and contribute innovative ideas to enhance culinary offerings
- Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, and cost control while maintaining organizational efficiency
- Maintain a clean, organized, sanitized, and well stocked workstation and kitchen equipment at all times
- Uphold and enforce all health codes, sanitation regulations, and food safety protocols to ensure a safe kitchen environment
- Perform opening, closing, and side work duties as instructed and according to established guidelines
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management to coordinate service and resolve challenges quickly and decisively
- Support staff scheduling and provide constructive feedback when necessary, fostering a supportive and inclusive team culture
Requirements
- Cooperate and comply with Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island in regards to OSH instructions and safe working procedures
- Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves, environment and others at work
- Do not adversely interfere with anything provided for OSH
- Do not interfere adversely with anything in place to control OSH risks
- Cooperate with organization with respect to actions and or action taken to protect the employee/ OSH requirements
- Follow OSHMS procedures as applicable
- Raise identified OSH issues with designated persons and take part in OSH consultative OSH requirements
- Report all near miss/ hazard/ unsafe/ conditions or act
- Use appropriate PPE and safety systems
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
- Attend OSH training as required by the training needs analysis
- Maintain all OSHMS records as required by the Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island
