- Experience with coral reef or fisheries monitoring and SCUBA diving certification are highly desirable
- Proficiency in statistical software such as R
- Strong organizational skills and excellent communication abilities
- Willingness to undertake regular fieldwork in challenging marine environments

Position Overview
- NYUAD invites applications for a Junior Research Scientist to join a multidisciplinary research program investigating environmental and ecological drivers of productive fishing grounds in the UAE.
- Working in partnership with Emirates Nature–WWF and government stakeholders.
- Support marine ecological surveys, fisheries monitoring, and environmental assessments for evidence based fisheries management and habitat restoration.
Responsibilities
- Become part of a multidisciplinary team undertaking ecological field surveys, environmental monitoring, habitat assessments, and fisheries research throughout the UAE.
- Combine regular fieldwork with laboratory and data analysis.
- Assist with collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation of biological and environmental data.
- Contribute to technical reports, scientific publications, and stakeholder outputs.
- Support marine field surveys including fish community assessments, benthic habitat monitoring, underwater visual surveys, and environmental sampling.
