About The Role

We love what we do – and it shows!

Time Out Market is the division of Time Out that brings our food and cultural experiences to life for our guests, readers and clients.

Our Junior Bartenders work alongside the bar team to deliver outstanding guest service and product, building their craft on one of Abu Dhabi's busiest bars.

This is a role for someone early in their bartending career who wants to learn fast, in a high-volume environment, with a team that will train them properly.

What You'Ll Do

  • Take beverage orders from guests and inform them of specials and menu changes
  • Follow given drink recipes when dispensing drinks, and garnish per company standards and recipes
  • Check beverage orders before serving to ensure they are correct, properly presented and that special requests have been met
  • Deliver beverage orders promptly and follow the appropriate sequence of service
  • Communicate orders through the POS terminal immediately
  • Prepare guest checks through POS terminal functions and process payments by cash, credit card and all other tender types
  • Follow procedures for the bartender bank and proper check-out, ensuring accurate accounting of all bar monies
  • Check guest identification accurately
  • Support senior bartenders and provide service to beverage runners in a timely manner
  • Apply working knowledge of portion control and product identification
  • Ensure proper rotation of all liquor, beer, wine and consumable items
  • Keep the bar top and back bar clean and organised throughout the shift; clean all spills and waste immediately
  • Prepare mixes and garnishes and maintain opening and closing par levels
  • Answer guest questions about our venues, menus and pricing
  • Anticipate guest needs and respond to inquiries courteously
  • Recognise when guests are becoming or are intoxicated and bring them to a manager's attention promptly
  • Comply with all safety and health department procedures and all applicable liquor laws
  • Inform management of any complaint, comment or incident, and report theft, vandalism or violations
  • Record and report equipment failure or safety hazards to a manager immediately
  • Complete nightly, weekly and opening/running/closing duties
  • Appear in uniform for all shifts at the scheduled time
  • Assist all other team members as needed, and complete additional tasks as assigned

What We'Re Looking For

  • Minimum of one year's experience behind a bar, or experience as a barback ready to step up
  • Working knowledge of beer, wine and spirits, and a genuine appetite to learn more
  • Familiarity with POS systems and basic numerical accuracy
  • Understanding of safe alcohol service, sanitation and safety
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, with staff, clients and the public
  • A positive attitude, personal integrity and the ability to stay composed when it's busy
  • Ability to work as a team, stay organised and follow direction accurately
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, busy environment and work under pressure
  • High School Diploma preferred

The Environment
