C2i is recruiting for Time Out Market, to build the team behind one of Abu Dhabi's most anticipated openings.

We're looking for passionate professionals to join us as we prepare to open Abu Dhabi's first Time Out Market a vibrant new destination for food, culture and entertainment under one roof!

About The Role

Time Out Market is the division of Time Out that brings our food and cultural experiences to life for our guests, readers and clients.

Our Market Barbacks provide outstanding guest service and product to ensure that each of our guests enjoys a memorable experience with every visit.

What You'Ll Do

  • Provide service to bartenders, beverage runners and guests in a timely manner
  • Assist bartenders with taking guest orders and ensuring the proper product is served
  • Prepare all mixes and garnishes
  • Polish and wash glassware throughout the shift
  • Ensure proper rotation of all liquor, beer, wine and consumable items
  • Maintain opening and closing liquor, beer, wine and consumables par
  • Ensure all stocking is complete, requisitions are filled out, and any shortage of stock is reported
  • Keep the bar top clean and free of dirty glasses, trash and clutter throughout the shift
  • Keep the back bar clean and organised
  • Clean all spills and waste immediately; sweep and mop as needed, and place all trash in proper receptacles
  • Set up and maintain event and banquet function spaces properly
  • Assist with loading and unloading of miscellaneous equipment, including boxes, food and beverage products
  • Respond to guest inquiries and requests courteously, and anticipate guest needs
  • Provide information to guests regarding our venues, menus and pricing
  • Recognise and cultivate regular guests and repeat business
  • Adhere to all company standard operating procedures and maintain all company service sequence standards
  • Maintain line of sight and atmosphere control by circulating through your work area throughout the shift
  • Recognise when guests are becoming or are intoxicated, monitor potentially disruptive guests, and bring them to a manager's attention promptly
  • Inform management of any complaint, comment or incident, and report theft, vandalism or violations
  • Comply with all safety and health department procedures, company and departmental policies, and all applicable liquor laws
  • Maintain company safety and sanitation standards
  • Complete nightly, weekly and opening/running/closing duties
  • Record and report any equipment failure or safety hazards to a manager immediately
  • Appear in uniform for all shifts at the scheduled time

What We'Re Looking For

  • Minimum of six months to one year of direct work experience
  • Knowledge of drink recipes, and of beer, wine and spirits
  • Familiarity with POS systems and bar and lounge operations
  • Understanding of safe alcohol service, beverage presentation and high-volume operations
  • Knowledge of opening and closing duties, sanitation and safety, and proper lifting techniques
  • Ability to create and maintain a sense of urgency
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical equations
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and assertively in English, verbally and in writing, with staff, clients and the public
  • Ability to maintain composure, personal integrity and a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude always and listen empathetically
  • Ability to work as a team, stay organised, handle various tasks at one time and make accurate decisions
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, busy environment, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • High School Diploma preferred

The Environment

Restaurant environment with varying levels of noise and crowds depending on guest volume.

The role is physically active — extended periods standing, moving at pace, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Varied shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays.

A professional, neat and well-groomed appearance is required at all times.
