About the role

Leading the team

• Supervise daily bar operations for efficient, smooth, and consistent service.
• Lead, motivate, and support bartenders and barbacks.
• Conduct daily shift briefings and communicate operational updates.
• Schedule and assign daily duties.
• Train and coach team members on service, drink recipes, product knowledge, and SOPs.
• Monitor workflow, allocate tasks, and foster teamwork and professionalism.

Running the bar

• Ensure opening, operating, and closing procedures meet company standards.
• Maintain drink quality, presentation, and consistency across orders and bartenders.
• Work the bar during peak service and lead by example on speed, accuracy, and guest engagement.
• Manage stock, inventory, product rotation, par levels, and wastage.
• Monitor POS transactions, payment handling, bartender banks, and daily sales activity.
• Support sales targets through upselling and effective service.
• Monitor bar equipment and report maintenance issues.
• Complete shift handovers, reports, and operational records.

Compliance and guest care

• Ensure compliance with safety, health, hygiene, and applicable liquor laws.
• Uphold responsible alcohol service, including identification checks and refusing service when required.
• Monitor intoxicated or disruptive guests and escalate issues to management.
• Handle guest feedback, concerns, and escalations professionally.
• Report theft, vandalism, violations, and safety hazards immediately.

What we are looking for

• At least five years of hospitality experience in a high-volume bar.
• At least one to two years of supervisory or head bartender experience.
• Strong knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and classic and contemporary cocktail techniques.
• Proven experience developing and coaching a bar team.
• POS confidence and strong numerical accuracy for cash handling and bar banks.
• Understanding of stock control, par levels, and wastage management.
• Effective and assertive English communication, verbally and in writing.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Composure, personal integrity, confidentiality, and ability to work under pressure.
• High School Diploma is preferred.

Work environment and schedule

• The role is based in a restaurant environment with varying noise and crowd levels.
• The role requires extended standing, moving at pace, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• A professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance is required.
