Role Summary

We are looking for an IT Technical Engineer – Application & License Management to manage and support the R&D and Engineering (I2M) applications landscape, including software development tools, CAD, CAE, and other engineering productivity applications. The role is responsible for application lifecycle management, software license management, deployments, monitoring, reporting, troubleshooting, and continuous service improvement to deliver secure, reliable, and efficient application services for R&D and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application Management
  • Manage the lifecycle of R&D and Engineering applications, including installation, configuration, deployment, upgrades, patching, maintenance, and retirement.
  • Support application packaging, software distribution, migrations, upgrades, and technology refresh activities.
  • Monitor application availability, and performance to ensure reliable application services.
  • Manage incidents, service requests, problems, and changes in accordance with ITIL processes and agreed service levels.
  • Perform application testing, validation, and post-deployment verification.
  • Provide Level 2 technical support for application installation, configuration, access, and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure teams, software vendors, and business stakeholders to resolve technical issues and support planned maintenance and upgrades.
  • Maintain application documentation, knowledge articles, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Administer both on-premises and cloud-hosted application environments.
  • License Management
  • Administer software licenses, license servers, and licensing infrastructure for engineering applications.
  • Manage multiple licensing models, including Concurrent, Named User, Subscription, and SaaS licensing.
  • Monitor application and license utilization to optimize software consumption, availability, and compliance.
  • Maintain license inventories, entitlement records, and compliance documentation.
  • Generate operational reports, dashboards, KPIs, and license utilization metrics using reporting tools.
  • Analyse usage trends and recommend license optimization opportunities.
  • Support software audits, license renewals, entitlement updates, and license allocation activities.
  • Troubleshoot licensing issues and coordinate with software vendors for timely resolution.
  • Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve application support processes through standardization, automation, and operational best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies, security standards, and operational procedures.
  • Contribute to knowledge management and continuous service improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical or a related discipline.
  • ITIL Foundation or relevant technical certifications are an added advantage.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Application Management, Application Support, or Software License Management
  • Experience with application lifecycle management, including installation, configuration, upgrades, patch management, software distribution, and coordination with enterprise application deployment and monitoring teams.
  • Knowledge of software licensing concepts, license administration, and licensing models.
  • Familiarity with enterprise license management technologies such as FlexNet Publisher (FlexLM), Flexera, Dassault Systemes License Server (DSLS), Siemens License Server (SLS), Sentinel RMS, or similar licensing solutions.
  • Experience using reporting and dashboarding tools such as Power BI, Excel, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with application and infrastructure monitoring tools.
  • Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow) for Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Request Management.
  • Basic understanding of Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Basic scripting or automation skills using PowerShell, Python, or Shell scripting are an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with Software Asset Management (SAM) practices.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms and SaaS application administration.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL for reporting and data analysis.
  • Understanding of ITIL service management principles.
