About the Role
Roots is looking for an IT Business Analyst to work closely with IT and business stakeholders to define and document detailed requirements for key IT initiatives. You will lead smaller IT projects, support application testing, and bridge the gap between business and IT teams.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate as part of a project team to elicit and document detailed business requirements, working closely with IT and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on proposed solutions
- Partner with the project team throughout the project delivery lifecycle to ensure all project goals and objectives are met through planning, analysis, development, and testing phases
- Lead the execution of smaller IT projects and define stakeholder roles, responsibilities, develop and manage the project plan
- Provide recommendations to users on appropriate solutions along with guidance concerning the business implications on the impacted applications/processes
- Lead process improvement efforts to enhance business performance and assist in evaluating new technologies that will enable continued business success
- Ensure system and business requirements are met by monitoring implementation, responding to issues and gaps in requirements, and collecting feedback for retrospective
- Bridge the gap between both business and IT teams ensuring common understanding and alignment of both functional and non functional requirements
- Execute and support various levels of application testing
- Update and implement operational procedures through projects or support to ensure smooth operation and acceptable performance
- Second level support troubleshooting and investigating escalated application issues with the goal of facilitating permanent resolutions
Requirements
- Post secondary education, preferably in business or applied computer science
- Minimum of 5 7 years of progressive experience as an IT Business Analyst
- Experience with Ecom, Retail, Wholesale, EDI, and/or Finance applications is an asset
- Excellent computer related and developmental skills with the ability to learn new software and middleware processes
- Solid understanding of IT infrastructure and software development lifecycles (SDLC)
- Strong analytical skills complemented by a customer focused approach and excellent service orientation
- Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL queries at an intermediate level
- Strong communication skills with experience leading requirements gathering sessions, defining objectives, and presenting results to stakeholders and executives
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, adapt and rebalance workloads as needed, work independently, and contribute valuable insights to project teams
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Highly skilled problem solver known for developing innovative solutions and approaching challenges with creative, out of the box thinking

Nature & Scope
- Reporting to the Manager – Business Analysis, the IT Business Analyst will work closely with internal IT and business stakeholders as well as third party vendors to define and document detailed requirements and deliver key IT initiatives.
