Role Overview
The Inventory Controller coordinates parts procurement from planning through receipt and facilitates smooth movement of parts from port to point of sale.
The role supports automotive inventory ordering, supply-chain follow-up, dealer communication, shipment prioritization, and warehouse coordination.
Inventory and Ordering Responsibilities
- Understand the principal’s manuals and processes for ordering, follow-up, escalation, and claims.
- Coordinate initial stock orders for new models and review them until the normal ordering cycle begins.
- Release orders according to dealer days and times and review order acceptance reports for proactive action.
- Review system-suggested quantities across movement categories when preparing stock orders.
- Review seasonal demand, slow-moving parts, and phase-in and phase-out parts.
- Review the weekly mix of stock orders, VOR orders, and AIR orders by value and line.
- Follow up on all orders and escalate supply-chain issues until receipt at the warehouse.
- Provide rolling forecasts to local dealers for tyres and consumables when applicable.
Coordination and Records
- Keep internal customers informed of order status by providing accurate estimated arrival times.
- Prioritize shipments based on need and inform the warehouse team in advance to plan inbound activity.
- Maintain records for easy retrieval.
Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate qualification, preferably in Commerce.
- Five years of experience in planning and inventory control, including purchasing and tracking, in a computerized environment.
- Two to three years of automotive industry experience is advantageous.
