Internship Program
NiSource is seeking a Summer Communications Intern to join its communications department for meaningful projects and team-based learning.
The program provides exposure to NiSource operations and the utilities industry while supporting professional development and relationship building.
Program Details
- This is a 12-week summer internship beginning in May 2027.
- Applicants must be students entering their junior or senior year in fall 2027.
- The role is based in Merrillville, Indiana, and candidates must reside within 50 miles of the reporting location.
Essential Functions
- Assist with public relations projects, charitable giving campaigns, and community volunteer events.
- Serve as a brand ambassador at targeted community events and promote company messages.
- Update media contact and community stakeholder lists.
- Develop internal and external news content, including photography and video.
- Create news releases, customer mailings, company fact sheets, and other communications.
- Support social media activity.
- Research awards, speaking opportunities, and media placements.
