Role Overview

Egis is seeking an Intermediate Environmental Planner / Project Manager for its infrastructure team in Ottawa, Canada.

The role manages environmental planning initiatives and infrastructure projects from conception through completion.

The position supports sustainable infrastructure development through environmental assessment, compliance, and project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop environmental planning strategies and project timelines for infrastructure initiatives.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and prepare technical reports.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies on environmental legislation and permitting.
  • Analyze environmental data and use GIS tools for planning decisions.
  • Manage project budgets, resources, schedules, quality standards, and milestones.
  • Engage communities, government officials, and project teams and communicate project progress.
  • Assess project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare presentations and briefing materials for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Integrate environmental considerations into infrastructure design.
  • Monitor project performance and adjust strategies to optimize outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in environmental planning, environmental assessment, or infrastructure project management.
  • Expertise in environmental impact assessment methodologies and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong proficiency with project management software and tools.
  • Experience with GIS software and environmental modeling platforms.
  • Understanding of federal and provincial environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reports and presentations.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and public consultation.
  • Proficiency in budget management and resource allocation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with sustainability principles and green infrastructure initiatives is preferred.
  • Background in team leadership or mentoring junior staff is preferred.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure planning and design principles is preferred.

Workplace

  • The role offers a hybrid work environment with access to a local office for in-person collaboration.
