Role Overview

Senior Structural Engineer based in Toronto, Canada, leading structural engineering design, project execution, and technical delivery.

The role covers medium to complex building and infrastructure projects across all phases from proposals and design through construction review and closeout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design activities and oversee project schedules, budgets, resources, quality, and technical delivery.
  • Prepare, review, and seal structural design packages, technical reports, engineering assessments, specifications, and construction drawings.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, authorities, government agencies, and internal design disciplines.
  • Oversee permitting, tendering, construction review, design conformance, technical direction, and project closeout.
  • Supervise and mentor junior and intermediate engineers and support peer reviews and quality management.
  • Pursue business development opportunities and prepare proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, and technical submissions.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in Structural Engineering and an Ontario P.Eng. license in good standing.
  • At least 10 years of structural engineering design experience and experience with medium to complex projects.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and construction stakeholders on large-scale projects.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, National Building Code of Canada, CSA standards, and applicable structural regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis software including ETABS, SAFE, S-FRAME, SAP, and WoodWorks.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, problem-solving, time management, attention to detail, and client relationship skills.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a registered and insured vehicle.

Assets

  • Full project lifecycle experience covering planning, design, permitting, tendering, and construction.
  • Experience mentoring engineering staff, preparing proposals, coordinating with regulatory agencies, conducting peer reviews, or performing engineering quality assurance.
