About the Role

The HSE Officer promotes and maintains a safe working environment.

The role implements health and safety policies, conducts inspections, identifies hazards, assesses risks, and supports regulatory compliance.

The officer educates employees on safe work practices and helps prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct workplace and site safety inspections and recommend corrective actions for identified hazards.
  • Ensure employees and contractors follow safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety inductions, and safety awareness training.
  • Monitor PPE use and review risk assessments, method statements, permits to work, and safety documentation.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions and prepare reports.
  • Maintain HSE records, inspection reports, training records, and other safety documentation.
  • Monitor high-risk activities including work at height, lifting, confined spaces, excavation, hot work, and electrical work.
  • Inspect emergency equipment and facilities and participate in emergency drills and response activities.
  • Report serious hazards to management, follow corrective actions through completion, and participate in audits and safety meetings.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, contractors, and management on health and safety matters and remain updated on occupational safety requirements.

Basic and Preferred Qualifications

  • A diploma or bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field is required.
  • A recognized safety certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA training, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and industry best practices is required.
  • Previous experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar HSE role is mandatory.
  • At least five years of engineering and IMS experience is stated in the description.
  • Experience with IMS processes and tools is stated in the description.
  • Aerospace or defence experience is desirable.
