- Develop and implement policies and practices for the PE department
- Monitor and evaluate short, medium, and long term plans for department development

- Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression for all students
- Performance manage team members in line with school policy
- Manage department resources and budgets effectively
- Contribute to the school's CAS Programme and after school activities
Requirements
- Experience in leading a Physical Education department
- Strong strategic planning and policy development skills
- Ability to use data to improve student outcomes
- Experience with SEN, G&T, and EAL students

Strategic Direction and Development
- Develop and implement policies and practices reflecting school vision
- Establish, monitor and evaluate short, medium and long term plans
- Use data to identify underachieving students and create action plans
- Analyse and interpret school data to inform policies and SEF writing
- Ensure appropriate schemes of work are developed and reviewed
Teaching and Learning
- Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity and progression for all students
- Establish clear policies for assessing, recording and reporting
- Set expectations for staff regarding achievement and teaching quality
- Evaluate teaching quality and identify areas for improvement
- Ensure department contributes to CAS Programme and revision sessions
Leading and Managing Staff
- Performance manage team in accordance with school policy
- Establish clear expectations and constructive working relationships
- Hold regular department meetings with minutes and agendas
Managing Resources
- Efficient deployment of staff and resources
- Maintain control of department resource and CapEx budgets
- Ensure effective use of accommodation for teaching and learning
- Ensure safe working and learning environment
Other Duties
- Contribute to CAS Programme by leading an after school activity
- Be an Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor
- Undertake duties as part of staff duty rota
- Cover for absent colleagues
- Invigilate examinations as required
