Position Objective
- Ensures food is prepared and presented according to standards
- Responsible for smooth day to day kitchen operation
- Liaises with Pastry Chef/Sous Chefs/Manager for timely food preparation
Key Responsibilities Operational
- Supervises kitchen staff on a specific shift
- Ensures kitchen equipment is in proper working order
- Trains staff and corrects production errors
- Maintains waste to a minimum and ensures portion control
- Initiates creative selling and presentation ideas
- Liaises with Kitchen department for cleanliness standards
- Orders fresh and dry goods daily
- Liaises with Managers regarding food preparation and special menus
- Minimizes Food Cost
- Determines quality of supplies with Sous Chef
- Attends weekly meetings and training sessions
Health, Safety and Security
- Maintain operational hygiene according to cleaning rotas
- Be aware of restaurant policies on health, hygiene, and fire life safety
- Familiarize with emergency exits and evacuation procedures
Financial Management
- Work to achieve budget by monitoring and controlling departmental operations
- Control and analyze departmental costs to ensure performance against budget
General
- Comply with company's corporate code of conduct
- Familiarize with company values and model desired behaviors
- Perform tasks as directed by Management
