Role Summary
The General Accountant is responsible for managing the hotel receiving function in a timely, smooth, and efficient manner.
The role ensures procured goods meet quality requirements and comply with hotel policies, procedures, and standards.
Accounting and Controls
- Review supplier invoices for originality, numbering, itemization, clear descriptions, clerical accuracy, and delivery acknowledgment.
- Review deviation reports, outstanding order reports, and outgoing records for control and completeness.
- Manage book closing and prepare financial reports.
- Reconcile the general ledger, bank accounts, and profit and loss accounts.
- Analyze financial reports, identify trends, and make recommendations.
- Review receiving, expense, payment, cashier, and invoice records for authorization, accuracy, and policy compliance.
- Supervise monthly payroll preparation and timely salary disbursement.
- Maintain effective internal controls, safeguard assets, and support accurate records.
Records and Audits
- Maintain properly named, catalogued, and access-restricted manual and computerized filing systems.
- Keep the supervisor informed of unusual events and policy or procedure deviations.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to complete audits.
- Store original contracts and important documents in a fireproof safe.
Experience and Qualifications
- At least two years of accounting experience in a hospitality environment is required.
- Knowledge of cost and store inventory is required.
- A high school diploma or higher qualification is essential.
- SAP Inventory Management is listed as a required software skill.
- Cost management, teamwork, and detail orientation are listed as required skills.
- Collaboration and meeting deadlines are listed as optional skills.
