Financial Director

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee financial operations and provide financial leadership for civil and construction projects.
• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy.
• Monitor project profitability, cash flow, budgets, costs, commitments, variations, claims, retention, accruals, and margins.
• Oversee project accounting, cost control, reporting, billing, invoicing, collections, and receivables.
• Work with commercial, contracts, quantity surveying, procurement, project, and senior management teams.
• Manage financial risks, compliance, internal controls, audits, and financial control procedures.
• Lead, manage, and develop the finance and accounting team.
• Improve accounting, reporting, billing, collection, and financial control systems, including ERP usage.

Job Knowledge and Skills

• Strong knowledge of finance and accounting within the civil and construction industry.
• Strong understanding of construction project accounting and cost control.
• Knowledge of construction contracts, billing, variations, claims, retention, and project cash flow.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, reporting, risk management, and internal control skills.
• Knowledge of full-cycle accounting and audit processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• SAP or ERP experience is required or highly preferred.

Job Experience and Education

• At least 15 years of finance and accounting experience.
• Proven finance leadership and senior finance management experience in civil engineering, construction, contracting, or infrastructure.
• Experience in project finance, cost control, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, billing, and collections.
• Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
• CPA, ACCA, CMA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
