Role Overview

The FEA Lead Engineer conducts advanced structural and thermal analyses for gas turbine components, including blades, vanes, disks, and casings.

The role includes technical mentoring and collaboration between the engineering team and customers.

Analysis Responsibilities

  • Perform complex linear and nonlinear structural, thermal, modal, and vibration analyses.
  • Perform static, modal, and fatigue analyses on rotating and static hardware.
  • Conduct steady-state and transient thermal simulations to evaluate thermal stress and gradients.
  • Analyze natural frequencies, Campbell diagrams, and forced response for HCF and LCF risk assessment.
  • Develop simplified finite element solutions based on the physics of the problem.
  • Correlate analytical models with physical test data.

Project and Technical Delivery

  • Support the full product lifecycle from conceptual design through validation and field issue resolution.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders and certification bodies.
  • Contribute to standardization and automation of FEA workflows.
  • Collaborate across functions and communicate technical information to engineering and leadership audiences.
  • Maintain first-time quality metrics and consistent project execution.

Required Qualifications

  • BTech or MTech in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • At least 10 years of structural analysis experience in rotating machinery or the gas turbine industry.
  • Proficiency in ANSYS Classic, ANSYS Workbench, and APDL macros.
  • Basic knowledge of UG-NX and HyperMesh.
  • Strong knowledge of finite element methods.
  • Knowledge of HCF and LCF fatigue, fracture mechanics, creep, and high-temperature material behavior.
  • Knowledge of rotor dynamics fundamentals, submodeling, coupled-field analysis, and cyclic symmetric analysis.

Additional Skills

  • Python or MATLAB scripting is listed as a plus.
  • Attention to detail is important for high-consequence, safety-critical applications.

Benefits

  • Benefits are provided according to company standard and regional policy.
