Job Summary
The engineer supports finite element validation and physical test/FEA correlation for mechanical systems developed for underground and above-ground mining equipment and vehicles.
The role provides FEA modelling and analysis support to engineers in Vancouver.
Responsibilities
- Validate mechanical system designs using finite element practices involving vibration and fatigue concepts.
- Perform FEA modelling and analysis support.
- Critically review mechanical systems and collaborate with project stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate risks to support project outcomes.
- Prepare FEA reports covering failure locations, hypotheses, root cause analysis and possible countermeasures.
- Identify process and design improvement opportunities through finite element validation.
- Support multiple design iterations and continuous change activity.
Experience
- Seven to eight years of related industry experience.
- Experience with static structural nonlinear, transient, random vibration, response spectrum, harmonic response and modal analysis in ANSYS.
- At least five years of experience using the stated ANSYS Mechanical toolboxes.
