Role Overview

  • The Early Years & Primary PYP Spanish Acquisition Teacher plays a key role in nurturing multilingualism, international mindedness, and a love of learning.
  • The successful candidate will be an engaging educator with strong interpersonal skills, committed to creating a supportive environment that values diversity, student voice, and ISL Qatar values.
  • They will work collaboratively with teachers, students, and families to support language acquisition and contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field
  • Recognised teaching qualification suitable for the role
  • Experience teaching Spanish Acquisition within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)
  • Experience working with diverse learners in an international school setting (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of current research on how students learn and ability to motivate students
  • Ability to engage and motivate students through differentiated, student centered instruction

Teaching & Learning

  • Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate Spanish Acquisition lessons aligned with the PYP
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Use technology and digital platforms (e.g., Toddle, Microsoft Teams) to enhance learning and communication

Curriculum & Assessment

  • Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the PYP Spanish Acquisition curriculum
  • Support the implementation of Understanding by Design and Assessment for Learning practices
  • Assist the school in meeting programme requirements for NEASC and the IB

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Participate in professional development, team meetings, and staff training
  • Foster strong collaborative relationships across grade levels and departments
  • Contribute to a positive team spirit and environment of mutual respect

Community & Contribution

  • Engage with families to support student learning and wellbeing
  • Contribute to community service, global citizenship initiatives, and whole school events
  • Participate in the school's extracurricular activities programme
  • Represent and uphold the professional standards of the teaching body
