Estimator - Marine

Position Overview

Span of Control and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, production, technical, and project management teams to gather project specifications and cost information.
• Review project drawings, specifications, and contracts to assess required resources and confirm alignment with project scope and budget.
• Update estimates as project scope, design, materials, or other details evolve.
• Maintain transparent and traceable records of estimates, assumptions, calculations, and revisions.
• Identify cost risks, scope changes, discrepancies, and project challenges and report them to senior estimating or management staff.
• Incorporate safety requirements, equipment, training, and risk mitigation measures into project cost assessments.
• Prepare estimates for marine project materials, labor, equipment, and other resources.
• Assist with reports for clients or management and submit final estimates for approval.

Key Competencies

• Strong understanding of marine project specifications and their effect on cost estimation.
• Ability to analyze and interpret project drawings, contracts, and technical documents.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in project costing.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with project teams, suppliers, and clients.
• Knowledge of industry standards, including IMO and ISO regulations.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's or master's degree in marine engineering, naval architecture, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience as an estimator.
• At least 2 years of experience in the marine or shipping industry.
• Additional certifications in cost estimation, project management, marine estimating, or marine operations are preferred.

Compensation

• Salary is AED 5,000 to AED 8,000 per month, depending on experience.

Workplace

• The work location is Dubai, UAE, and the role is performed in person.
