NB Power’s Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station is seeking candidates for its Fire Protection Program - Emergency Response Team (ERT). As a qualified ERT Responder, individuals will be provided with advanced training and be prepared to respond to various types of emergency situations including fire, medical and hazmat. In addition, individuals will perform inspection and maintenance activities on emergency related systems and equipment in accordance with company and industry-related standards. Other duties or maintenance activities based on station operational requirements, as requested.
High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Airbrakes Endorsement accompanied by an acceptable driving record with submission of Driver’s Abstract
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) = 1001 Level I Fire Fighter certificate OR International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) Level I Fire Fighter certificate
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) = 1001 Level II Fire Fighter certificate OR International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) Level II Fire Fighter certificate
Medical First Responder with Advanced CPR & AED
NFPA 472 Awareness and Operations
Two years of experience as a volunteer or full-time Industrial or Municipal Fire Fighter

Two years of experience working in an industrial environment
NFPA 1002: Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications
Rope/technical rescue certificate
The ability to work shift work on a rotating schedule that involves working nights, weekends, and holidays as per shift schedule.
A strong team orientation, while also able to work independently without direct supervision, when required.
Basic computer skills with Microsoft applications such as Outlook and Word.
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
Security Clearance: Due to security requirements at Canadian Nuclear facilities, the successful candidates will be required to obtain a Site Access Security Clearance. This process includes verification of background information, credit check, references, a Criminal Record Name Check, and a Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) security recommendation. Maintaining this clearance is a mandatory requirement for the position.
Medical Clearance: Must be medically cleared as "fit for duty" by NB Power's contracted physician and maintain this status.
Annual Physical Testing: Must successfully pass and maintain annual physical testing.
Emergency Response Team Training: Must successfully complete and maintain training in the on-site Emergency Response Team program, which spans 20-24 weeks.
Drills and Certifications: Must complete and maintain qualifying drills in Fire, Medical, and HAZMAT.
Radiation Protection Training: Must successfully pass and maintain Radiation Protection Training Yellow Badge certification.
