Engineer I-IV One Regular position Unionized Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada Salary range: $34.70 to $57.72 hourly based on 40 hours per week Competition # E22625 -2026

As part of the Technical Services Department, the Engineer I–IV is responsible for providing engineering support across all aspects of Distribution Engineering (planning, protection/coordination, standards, power quality, embedded generation, metering, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), etc.).
Key functions include
Provide engineering support in the areas of metering and embedded generation, which may include large industrial metering system designs and meter programming, performing distribution system impact studies for net metering applications, coordinating with Measurement Canada standards, working with field technicians, developing NB Power metering standards, and providing engineering support for the large industrial billing group, meter shop, account managers, the net metering groups, etc.
Provide engineering support in the areas of distribution protection/coordination, and power quality, which may include distribution protective device coordination studies, protective device relay programming, coordinating with field technicians, connecting power quality analyzer, performing power quality studies, etc.
Provide engineering support in the areas of distribution planning and distribution standards, which may include distribution system load flow studies, supporting the planners with their capital plans, and assist in developing distribution standards.
Our ideal teammate will have
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB) as a Member-in-Training or a Professional Engineer. Preference will be given to candidates with the Professional Engineer registration.
Three years of experience in one or more of the following: Metering design and standards Electronic meter programming (may also consider other electronic device programming experience, such as protection relay or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming) SCADA system design/programming, and associated communication protocol experience (Do Not Populate (DNP), Modbus, etc.) Distribution protection and coordination design Electrical system modeling software experience (e.g. CYME Power Engineering Software and CYME Distribution Analysis, Power Systems Computer Aided Design (PSCAD), etc.) Experience with embedded generation or net metering system design/commissioning Substation design, or other relevant electrical design or commissioning experience.

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified. An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
