Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a Data Center construction project in Doha, Qatar.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the electrical design and technical coordination of mission-critical facilities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review electrical designs for Data Center projects including MV/LV systems, UPS, generators, transformers, switchgear, lighting, grounding, and ELV systems
- Prepare and review load calculations, single-line diagrams, technical submittals, shop drawings, and design documentation
- Coordinate with MEP, CSA, BIM, commissioning, and construction teams to ensure integrated project delivery
- Support design development, technical reviews, value engineering, and design optimization activities
- Ensure compliance with international standards, local authority requirements, and client specifications
- Review vendor technical submissions, material approvals, and equipment selections
- Participate in design coordination meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders
- Support testing, commissioning, and project handover activities
- Assist in resolving technical issues, RFIs, and design clashes during project execution
- Monitor project progress and support delivery in line with approved schedules and quality standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Electrical Design Engineering within Data Center construction projects
- Strong knowledge of mission-critical electrical infrastructure including UPS systems, generators, MV/LV distribution, and redundancy concepts
- Experience with Data Center projects, hyperscale facilities, or mission-critical environments is mandatory
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, or other electrical design software
- Good understanding of international codes and standards related to Data Center design
- Strong coordination, communication, and technical problem-solving skills
- GCC experience is preferred
- Candidates currently located in the GCC are preferred
