About the Role
SPIE Global Services Energy is seeking an Electrical Assistant Technician for a 32-month fixed-term contract in Ras Laffan, Qatar. The role involves operation and maintenance of electrical systems, including HV/LV distribution, switchgear, transformers, and UPS, in an oil and gas environment.

Responsibilities
- Operation and maintenance of complete Electrical Systems, including supervision, planning, scheduling, inspection
- Hands on experience in all types of Electrical system equipment and Control system maintenance
- Monitoring computerized maintenance system, handling of Notification, Work Order
- Operation & Maintenance of HV & LV Distribution network
- Maintenance of Switchgear, Transformer, Generator protection philosophy and testing of protection devices
- Maintenance of Neutral, equipment earthing system
- Operation & maintenance knowledge of UPS, Battery Charger, Battery Banks
- Maintenance of SCADA, FO cable, Switchgear Protective devices
Requirements
- Trade Certificate in Electrical or higher
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Electrical Machines, Power System in Oil & Gas Industry or equivalent
- Hands on experience in HV & LV Distribution network, switchgear, transformer, generator protection
- Experience with UPS, Battery Charger, Battery Banks
- Familiarity with SCADA, FO cable, Switchgear Protective devices
- Computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office packages

Job Purpose
- This position is a unique opportunity with many advantages in Oil and Gas career sector in one of the most important Projects handled by SPIE in Qatar with QatarEnergy.
- The candidate shall be responsible for operation and maintenance of complete Electrical Systems, including supervision, planning and scheduling, inspection.
Main Duties
- Maintenance tasks.
- Installing and performing diagnostic tests on systems.
- Developing and implementing maintenance plans to prevent costly equipment breakdowns.
- Troubleshooting malfunctions and breakdowns, as well as performing repairs.
- Documenting processes and maintaining service records.
- Monitoring the availability of parts and replenishing supplies.
- Optimizing efficiency by adjusting machinery and equipment settings.
- Maintaining a tidy work environment and adhering to industry regulations.
- Plant maintenance experience on HV Substations, switchboards up to 6.6kV, motors, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), thyristor rectifiers, and general plant electrical utilities are required.
Profile
- Trade Certificate in Electrical or higher.
- Minimum experience of 05 Years in Electrical Machines, Power System in Oil & Gas Industry, Power System Generation & Distribution Industry or equivalent.
- Familiar with different electrical systems, equipment and component with its fittings and material specifications.
- Capable to trouble shoot, maintain, repair the different electrical system, equipment and components.
- Hands on experience in HV & LV Distribution network, numerical relay protection, transformer maintenance, MV and HV cable jointing and repair, vacuum breaker maintenance, MV motor maintenance.
- Experience that includes PLCs, HVAC, instrumentation and the use of computer based man machine interfaces is preferred.
- Switching and operating experience on plant at 415V, 6.6kV, 11KV, 33kV and 132kV is highly desirable.
- Computer literacy essential and familiarity with MS Office 2000 packages.
