Position Overview

Support implementation, promotion, and continuous improvement of Finning’s Environment, Health and Safety Management System.

Partner with operational leaders, EH&S professionals, and employees to strengthen safety culture, regulatory compliance, and environmental performance.

Workplace

  • The role is based in Surrey, British Columbia, with a hybrid work opportunity.
  • Travel is approximately 50% to support branches, remote sites, and field operations.

Safety Leadership and Communication

  • Provide coaching and guidance on health, safety, and environmental requirements, trends, and best practices.
  • Develop safety talks, toolbox meetings, communications, safety boards, visual management standards, and shared safety insights.

Collaboration and Compliance

  • Partner with leaders and employees on EH&S programs, training, inspections, meetings, and communications.
  • Support Joint Health and Safety Committees, branch leadership meetings, inspections, hazard reporting, corrective actions, walkthroughs, and audits.
  • Monitor compliance, coach completion of EH&S requirements, and participate in internal and external audits.

Emergency and Incident Management

  • Coordinate emergency response drills, review outcomes, communicate findings, and implement improvements with operations.
  • Guide incident investigations, causal analysis, regulatory correspondence, and incident management activities.
  • Analyze incident data and trends using reporting and dashboard tools to support injury prevention and risk reduction.

Training and Program Development

  • Support EH&S training delivery, compliance, and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to EH&S programs, procedures, training materials, management system documentation, performance reports, and administrative activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Five to ten years of progressive Environment, Health and Safety experience.
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience supporting EH&S management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of occupational health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
  • Experience in power generation, heavy equipment, manufacturing, maintenance, mining, construction, or related environments is an asset.
  • Strong coaching, communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with Microsoft Office proficiency.

Compensation

  • The expected base salary is $75,000 to $90,000 annually.
  • The role also includes an additional performance bonus over the base salary.
