About The Role

• Qatar Airways are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our Flight Operations – Navigation Services team as a Duty Manager Flight Dispatch & Flight Watch to be based in Doha, Qatar.
• As a Duty Manager Flight Dispatch & Flight Watch, you will be responsible for managing the Flight Dispatch and Flight Watch operational activities, by leading and directing a team of technical experts.
• You will take full accountability and ownership of the Qatar Airways Flight Dispatch function and all operational decisions made pertaining to the safety and efficiency of flights to ensure that the Flight Dispatch and Flight Watch operates in accordance with all regulatory safety compliances.
• Specific responsibilities for the role include:
• Update the Integrated Operations Centre with operational impacts due weather forecasts, severe weather systems, Volcanic Ash Advisories, and NOTAM's affecting routes and airports so as to alert other stakeholders on the knock-on effect and recovery plans if necessary.
• Monitor operationally critical advisories and participate in teleconferences with the ANSPs to determine the best course of action for the business. QRIOC and Station authorities to be then updated with developments and operational strategy.
• Support the Manager Flight Dispatch and Flight Watch to evaluate the evolving roles of Flight Dispatch and Flight Watch and develop processes and procedures based on case studies and also suggest robust changes. Recommend changes to the Flight Operations Manual and Dispatch Operations Manual and Operations Specifications.
• Manage Qatar Airways Global Flight Dispatch (pre-tactical) and mission support (tactical) Operations.
• Liaise with Air Traffic Management Authorities, Integrated Operations Centre, Crew resources and other agencies for expediting operational support as well as organisational support whenever necessary to accomplish a mission safely and efficiently.
• Liaise with Flight Operations Engineers/Line Maintenance specialists equipped with the interpretation of Minimum Equipment List (MEL) for each aircraft type and its variants, to determine the health of an aircraft to accomplish the desired mission.
• Monitor the ad-hoc/charter routes for compliance with published decompression procedures. If not, liaise with Operations Engineering experts to develop an appropriate procedure.
• Monitor that the non-schedule routes or the diversion recovery routes are non-ETOPS, unless it is operationally required otherwise and all stakeholders have been informed to put in place all the essentials for an ETOPS operation.
• Manage the Flight Dispatch Planning team to assure safety, economy and punctuality of each Qatar Airways flight.

Qualification

• About you
• The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
• Relevant College or University qualification with minimum of 7 years Flight Dispatch job related experience performing Flight Dispatch functions.
• Must have prior experience in a Flight Dispatch supervisory or managerial role.
• Experience in international Flight Dispatch.
• Trained and line experience in Lido computer Flight Planning System.
• Having a certificate as an ATC specialist or Meteorologist would be an advantage.
• Strong aviation background with an emphasis on aircraft Dispatching under EASA regulations.
• Must have an ability to define processes and procedures when required and be able to work in a team environment and support cultural diversity.
• Strong aviation background with an emphasis on aircraft Dispatching under EASA regulations.
• Knowledge on FAA regulations and its applications preferred.
• Thorough understanding of performance calculations using Boeing and Airbus software.
• Strong knowledge on interpretation of Jeppesen chart and e-Link application.
• Good understanding of Network operational portal (NOP/ CHMI) and application skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and other office applications.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English.
