Drainage Advisor

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist technical advice on drainage and stormwater infrastructure throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review drainage designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, technical proposals, and construction methodologies.
• Advise on planning, design, and implementation of stormwater drainage systems.
• Review networks, culverts, channels, outfalls, detention systems, and associated infrastructure.
• Ensure solutions comply with local standards, codes, and project requirements.
• Identify risks, design issues, and constructability challenges and recommend solutions.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and provide guidance to consultants, contractors, and project teams.
• Review site conditions and recommend responses to drainage and stormwater issues.
• Monitor technical quality and compliance with approved designs and specifications.
• Support technical meetings, design reviews, risk assessments, value engineering, and complex issue resolution.
• Ensure drainage infrastructure meets performance, safety, and sustainability standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in drainage, stormwater management, and civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong experience in large-scale infrastructure, roads, utilities, or urban development projects.
• Excellent knowledge of drainage design principles, hydraulic systems, and stormwater management.
• Experience reviewing engineering designs, technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Strong understanding of international engineering standards and relevant local requirements.
• Experience working with consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Professional engineering certification or recognized engineering-body membership is highly desirable.
• Major infrastructure experience in the Middle East or GCC is an advantage.
