Responsibilities
- Perform preliminary data analysis and develop technical recommendations for screening potential PV Solar assets
- Conduct preliminary and detailed design with focus on technical configuration and optimization
- Run PV Syst, Helioscope, and Homer output simulations
- Create Solar Auto CAD layouts, mechanical and installation details
- Develop project single line diagrams, solar lab reports, and shading analysis
- Ensure compliance with utilities' standards in design, safety, and environment
- Maintain close relationship with core design and execution teams for knowledge transfer
- Understand region specific regulations for effective Solar PV designs
- Generate project estimation sheets (CAPEX & OPEX) and schedules
- Optimise designs for competitive CAPEX and OPEX without compromising quality
- Attend kick off meetings and provide technical expertise during site surveys
- Support project execution team during inspection, installation, and testing stages
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputed institution
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in Solar PV design field in the UAE
- Hands on design exposure using at least one solar PV software (PVSyst, Helioscope, Sketch up, Homer, etc.)
- Knowledge of AutoCAD
- Knowledge of ETAP setting calculation (added advantage)
- Knowledge of cable sizing calculation and LV/MV electrical panels design & optimisation
- Full understanding of solar technologies and products
- Knowledge of solar product code certifications and testing
- Results oriented with ability to work on multiple projects

Job Purpose
- The primary responsibility of the Design Engineer is to be a productive team member of Solar PV design team and support the company’s strategic growth through direct engagement with BD/Sales Team and Operations Team.
Solar & Electrical Design
- Performing preliminary data analysis and developing technical recommendations for a first screening of potential PV Solar Asset
- Responsible for Preliminary and Detailed Design with focus on Technical Configuration and Optimization
- PV Syst Output Simulations
- Helioscope Output Simulation
- Homer Output Simulations
- Solar Auto CAD Layouts, Mechanical and Installation Details (Mounting Structure, Inverter mounting, cable trays, weather station, walkways etc.)
- Project Single Line Diagrams
- Solar Lab Reports and Shading Analysis
- Basis of Offers
- Ensuring compliance with Utilities’ standards in terms of Design, Safety, Environment and the Development of Complex Projects
- Maintaining close relationship with EEE’s core design team and execution team
- Understanding region specific regulations and issues required for the development of most effective designs for Solar PV projects
Projects Estimation
- Managing the generation of Project estimation sheets (CAPEX & OPEX) and schedule of project for internal and external use
- Optimising designs for a better & competitive (CAPEX & OPEX) approaches without compromising in quality or industry standards
- Advise and align with Supply Chain on Solar Products pricing, Availability and Updates in the system
Projects Co ordination
- Attend Kick off meetings to collect important design enhancement feedbacks
- Support and Provide technical expertise during site surveys to design most effective solar solutions and electrical integrations & infrastructure
- Aligning with Project Execution team to ensure smooth project construction as per approved designs
- Supporting Project Execution team during various stage of the projects including inspection, installation & testing stages
Innovation
- Attend suppliers training seminars and webinars to be always updated with newest technologies
- Introduce new ideas for consistent design optimization, ease of implementation and smoother operation & maintenance of Solar PV systems
Qualifications
- Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputed institution
- Must have hands on design exposure (certification is a plus) using at least one or multiple solar PV software e.g. PVSyst, Helioscope, Sketch up, Homer etc.
- Knowledge of using AutoCAD is necessary
- Knowledge of using ETAP setting calculation is an added advantage
- Knowledge of using cable sizing calculation and LV/MV electrical panels design & optimisation
- Full understanding of solar technologies and products
- Knowledge of solar product code certifications and testing required by authorities
- Results oriented individual with ability to work on multiple projects
Experience
- Must have minimum a demonstrated 2 years or more of work experience in the Solar PV design field in the UAE
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to prioritize and handle numerous competing demands in a high volume, fast paced working environment
- Be fully organized, well structured, available and committed with a high sense of responsibility
- Willing to share and gain knowledge openly and transparently within organisation
- Willingness to work to deadline and possess excellent teamwork quality
- Be self motivated and able to manage stress and work under pressure
- Follow internal processes and ability to enhance processes KPIs
