Deployment Architect - Presales

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery workshops with customer infrastructure, security, and operations teams.
• Translate requirements into architectures, deployment plans, and technical proposals.
• Own proposal infrastructure and deployment design, including sizing, hardware, storage, networks, and implementation.
• Run proofs of concept and proofs of value through the sales cycle.
• Bridge customers, sales, product engineering, and delivery teams.
• Produce technical designs, bills of materials, network plans, runbooks, readiness checklists, RACI matrices, and risk registers.
• Support deployment planning, commissioning, acceptance criteria, and technical escalations.
• Create reusable reference architectures, standards, and deployment playbooks.
• Engage customers in cybersecurity, defence, national security, and other security-sensitive sectors.

Must-Haves

• Technical presales, solution architecture, or deployment architecture experience in a technology vendor, systems integrator, or consulting environment.
• Hands-on enterprise infrastructure delivery in on-premises, private-cloud, or customer-controlled environments.
• Experience with cybersecurity, defence, national security, government, or other highly regulated customers.
• Ability to convert customer requirements into clear, commercially viable solution designs.
• Experience with proofs of concept, proofs of value, technical demonstrations, and solution workshops.
• Strong knowledge of Linux, enterprise networking, storage, and data-centre infrastructure.
• Experience with containerized platforms and infrastructure as code.
• Kubernetes experience is highly desirable.
• Ability to produce low-level designs, capacity models, hardware specifications, and bills of materials.
• Strong technical documentation skills and the ability to engage senior technical stakeholders.
• Proactive, adaptable approach and ability to learn new technologies quickly.

The Right Person

• Already operating in technical presales or solution consulting with hands-on engineering or delivery credibility.
• Comfortable moving between customer discovery, technical solutioning, product discussions, and delivery planning.
• Able to challenge requirements appropriately and translate customer needs into clear technical actions.
• Able to work with limited structure and take ownership through delivery handover.
