Job Description
- Maintain a smooth workflow in the surgery assigned with cooperation with the respective dentist, colleagues and superiors to provide effective and efficient high standard care to our valued patients.
- Carrying out the Department's policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist / surgeon in all aspects of the practice.
- Attend to the patient with such a warm reception, with a 'SMILE'.
- Cooperate with the receptionist, paper works like referrals, insurance cards, invoices and approvals.
- Carry on telephone manner as per procedure and policy.
- Practice the universal precaution to maintain the good infection control in every aspect of the clinical practice.
- Maintain availability of stocks and other needed items in the surgery.
Daily Procedures
- Start Up: Wear appropriate uniform, switch on surgery/unit and computer, X Ray. Check appointment and laboratory works.
- Run through the 3:1 and motors to remove stagnant water for at least 2 minutes. Flush water into spittoon. Ensure clean environment.
- During the day: Assist the surgeon, observe cross infection control, be present during all operating procedures.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P) when using all equipment.
- Maintain stocks, note items that need refill.
- Keep patient record updated: invoices and charges / maintain lab work diary.
- End of day: Accomplish daily statistics report, clean and disinfect equipment, dispose clinical waste, check next day's appointment.
Weekly Procedures
- Clean all displays in practice.
- Check stocks in the surgery, note requisitions.
- Clean operating chair/stools, suction tubes, X ray machine, cupboard fronts, skirting boards, pictures, mirrors, window sills, ceiling lights, ledges and shelves.
- Clean and reline all cupboards and drawers.
- Hygiene surgery as on rota: Clean chair, stools, light, skirting etc.
- Prepare weekly stat for the weekly meeting.
- Check lab book.
Monthly Procedures
- Stock Order: Request form completed for any new dental material request, given to stock controller / material coordinator.
- Sharpak: Check (3/4 full) for disposal.
- Statistics: Prepare monthly statistics (Patients / Gross Income).
Requirements
- Essential: Minimum (2) years in relevant position.
- Essential: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Desirable: Nursing Degree + Computer literate + English Language.
