Responsibilities

Design and develop a comprehensive data migration strategy and plan
Conduct in depth analysis of diverse source systems to understand schemas, data structures, and data quality
Perform data profiling to identify data quality issues and design data cleansing rules
Define detailed source to target data mappings and develop complex data transformation logic
Design, develop, and optimize ETL processes and scripts using appropriate tools and programming languages
Implement rigorous data validation frameworks and reconciliation procedures
Optimize migration processes for performance and scalability
Ensure strict adherence to data security, privacy, and governance policies
Conduct internal testing of migration routines and support User Acceptance Testing
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all data migration activities

Requirements

Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Data Migration Engineer, ETL Developer, or Data Engineer
Proven track record of successfully planning, executing, and validating large scale data migration projects for enterprise software implementations
Experience working with complex, diverse, and potentially fragmented data sources, including structured and unstructured data
Fluency in English and Arabic — reading, writing, and speaking — is mandatory
Strong expertise in ETL methodologies, tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, SSIS, custom scripts), and best practices
Advanced SQL skills for complex data extraction, manipulation, querying, and performance tuning across various database systems
Strong programming/scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for data processing, automation, and custom ETL development
Understanding of relational and potentially NoSQL database concepts and data modelling principles
Experience with data profiling and data quality tools
Knowledge of data security principles, data masking, and anonymization techniques
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) for managing ETL code and scripts

Role Overview

The Data Migration Engineer will be a critical technical resource responsible for the end to end planning, execution, and validation of data migration from various legacy systems into the new Enterprise Transformation solution (the COTS platform).

Key Responsibilities

Migration Strategy & Planning: Design and develop a comprehensive data migration strategy and plan.
Source System Analysis: Conduct in depth analysis of diverse source systems.
Data Profiling & Cleansing: Perform data profiling to identify data quality issues.
Data Mapping & Transformation: Define detailed source to target data mappings.
ETL Development: Design, develop, and optimize ETL processes and scripts.
Data Validation & Reconciliation: Implement rigorous data validation frameworks.
Performance & Scalability: Optimize migration processes for performance and scalability.
Security & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to data security, privacy, and governance policies.
Testing & UAT Support: Conduct internal testing of migration routines and support UAT.
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all data migration activities.
Collaboration: Work closely with Client IT resources, the COTS platform provider, and other project teams.

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Data Migration Engineer, ETL Developer, or Data Engineer.
Proven track record of successfully planning, executing, and validating large scale data migration projects.
Experience working with complex, diverse, and potentially fragmented data sources.
Prior experience in government, public sector, or industries with strict data governance is highly desirable.
Fluency in English and Arabic — reading, writing, and speaking — is mandatory for this role.
