Position Objective

Own the design-review and quality-gate process for data center designs before procurement.

Provide independent design assurance through the EPC stage in a mission-critical Middle East operating context.

Responsibilities

  • Manage structured design reviews for each High-Level Design before procurement.
  • Verify traceability to requirements and maintain independence from design production.
  • Assess resilience, redundancy, maintainability, and single points of failure.
  • Review critical power, cooling, heat rejection, equipment selection, and design PUE.
  • Confirm Tier III or Tier IV compliance and applicability of TIA-942, EN 50600, and ASHRAE guidelines.
  • Issue comments and NCRs, track responses, and verify closure.
  • Support technical specifications, RFP preparation, and compliance-based bid evaluation.
  • Review EPC detailed-design and IFC submittals against approved intent.
  • Chair design-change and deviation reviews.
  • Define acceptance criteria for L1-L5 commissioning and handover, including the L5 IST.
  • Lead and guide design and review teams.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10 to 12 years of data center or mission-critical facility design experience.
  • 4 to 5 years in design review, design assurance, or owner’s-engineer roles.
  • At least one Tier III or higher facility taken from concept through commissioning.
  • Working knowledge of Uptime Institute tier topology, TIA-942, and EN 50600.
  • Practical command of critical power and cooling MEP systems and NFPA, IEC, and IEEE standards.
  • Uptime Institute ATD certification required or to be obtained within three months.
  • Strong written and spoken English required; Arabic is an advantage.
  • Awareness of the Syrian operating context and willingness to travel within Syria.

Preferred Credentials

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is an advantage.
  • TIA-942 CTDC and BICSI DCDC certifications are strongly preferred.
  • Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer registration is strongly preferred.
