Role Overview

The Cost Controller will drive cost transparency, accuracy, and control across COGS, with emphasis on manufacturing costs, standard cost setting, variance analysis, and purchase price variances.

The role supports data-driven cost management and strategic decisions across the global fragrance business.

The position collaborates with operations, procurement, supply chain, and finance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain standard costs for products using BOMs, labor, overhead, and material pricing.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, COGS components, cost drivers, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Perform standard-versus-actual, purchase price, manufacturing, and inventory valuation variance analyses.
  • Collaborate with procurement on supplier cost fluctuations and purchase price variance impacts.
  • Oversee the annual standard cost roll process.
  • Support inventory valuation, obsolescence risk management, and inventory transaction validation.
  • Support budgets and rolling forecasts for COGS and manufacturing operations.
  • Prepare COGS, margin, KPI, and cost analysis reports for leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP or IFRS and internal controls.
  • Support closing activities, audits, ERP improvements, automation, product development, pricing, and capital expenditure analysis.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • CPA or CMA certification is strongly preferred.
  • At least 7 years of cost accounting and financial analysis experience is required.
  • CPG or manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of standard costing, BOM structures, and inventory accounting is required.
  • Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills are required.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, ERP systems, BI or reporting tools, and advanced Excel is required.
  • Microsoft Dynamics, MRP systems, and applied AI in cost accounting are advantageous.
