The role
The Compliance Operations Lead will connect the Head of Compliance, Operations, and the analyst team.
The role handles ambiguous cases, keeps daily execution moving, and ensures compliance decisions are consistent, documented, and defensible.
The role may include direct analyst-team management or senior individual-contributor escalation ownership.
What you'll do
- Escalate complex KYB, KYC, and enhanced due diligence cases before they reach the Head of Compliance.
- Review analyst risk ratings, evidence, and disposition notes for completeness and defensibility.
- Set and track case-aging, turnaround-time, QA, and rework metrics.
- Build SOPs, escalation templates, and case documentation standards.
- Manage sanctions, PEP, and adverse media escalations, including false-positive reviews and evidence retention.
- Support transaction monitoring for unusual payouts, rapid onboarding, and high-risk activity.
- Maintain evidence and remediation trackers for audits and partner reviews.
- Coordinate client-facing compliance requests with Customer Success and Operations.
- Report compliance operations to the Head of Compliance and COO.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in compliance operations, AML or financial crime, sanctions, or payments compliance.
- Relevant experience in a regulated financial services environment is preferred.
- Sound judgment on ambiguous cases involving incomplete documents, unclear business activity, or elevated partner risk is required.
- Experience managing, mentoring, or quality-assuring analysts is a plus.
- Strong written communication for case notes, escalations, and partner responses is required.
- CAMS or CFCS certification is a plus.
- Arabic fluency is a strong plus, not a requirement.
