  • A Commis plays a vital role in the kitchen brigade, supporting food preparation, mise en place, and presentation of dishes.

Here's what you'll do during a typical day

  • Assist in preparation and cooking of menu items following established recipes and standards.
  • Prepare and organize mise en place for assigned station.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Receive, check, and store deliveries in compliance with food safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas.
  • Ensure food quality and freshness, reporting concerns to senior chefs.
  • Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and utensils regularly.
  • Handle waste disposal and linen management appropriately.
  • Adhere to food hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and grooming.
  • Attend daily briefings and contribute to team communication.
  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
