Role Overview
Entry-level kitchen position focused on basic food preparation, cleaning, organisation, and learning fundamental kitchen operations.
The role works under close supervision and reports to the Commis 2, Commis 1, or Demi Chef.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation and wash, peel, and cut vegetables and other ingredients.
- Support mise en place, workstation setup, supervised plating, and senior chefs during service.
- Maintain clean workstations, support closing duties, and ensure proper ingredient storage.
- Pack takeaway and delivery orders and keep the packing area and packaging supplies organised.
Daily Operations and Workflow
- Set up the workstation before service and prepare simple ingredients.
- Support senior chefs during service and participate in cleaning and closing duties.
Learning and Skills Development
- Learn kitchen basics and cooking techniques while observing senior chefs and asking questions.
- Practice knife skills and hygiene, attend assigned training sessions, and learn KDS basics.
- Learn to use kitchen equipment safely and follow digital kitchen instructions.
