Commercial Director - Constructions

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Commercial Department and implement the company's commercial strategy.
• Establish commercial policies, procedures, controls, and governance frameworks.
• Oversee tenders, estimates, bids, budgets, and commercial proposals.
• Lead procurement strategy, negotiations, and cost optimization.
• Oversee contracts, variations, claims, extensions of time, and settlements.
• Manage commercial risks, valuations, subcontractor accounts, and final settlements.
• Monitor margins, cost commitments, commercial performance, and profitability.
• Manage relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and partners.
• Work with Operations, Finance, Projects, and Senior Management to align strategy and execution.
• Approve major commercial commitments within delegated authority.
• Provide reports, forecasts, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior management.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the commercial team while driving process improvement and digitalization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least 15 years of progressive commercial-management experience in construction or contracting.
• Significant senior leadership experience.
• Experience managing procurement, contracts, estimation, and commercial functions in a large construction organization.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, tendering, cost control, claims, and variations.
• Experience in contract negotiations and commercial risk management.
• Ability to manage complex projects and high-value commercial commitments.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, analytical, decision-making, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Experience

• UAE or GCC construction experience is highly preferred.
