Accounts Manager

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting function and supervise the accounts team.
• Manage monthly and year-end closing and deliver management accounts.
• Review reconciliations, receivables, collections, payables, supplier accounts, advances, retention, and payment schedules.
• Monitor project costs, profitability, work in progress, and cash-flow requirements.
• Maintain controls over fixed assets, inventory, and financial documentation.
• Review VAT returns and Corporate Tax calculations and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate external audits and prepare supporting schedules and records.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, ageing reports, and financial analysis.
• Establish accounting policies, approval controls, and monthly closing procedures.
• Identify discrepancies, control weaknesses, and process-improvement opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least eight years of progressive accounting experience.
• At least five years of accounting experience in contracting or construction.
• At least three years of relevant experience in the GCC.
• Previous experience supervising accountants or managing an accounts function.
• Advanced practical knowledge of QuickBooks Online.
• Strong knowledge of UAE VAT, Corporate Tax, FTA requirements, and EmaraTax.
• Good understanding of project accounting, retention, advances, work in progress, and cost allocation.
• Strong Microsoft Excel, budgeting, and financial-analysis skills.
• ACCA, CMA, CPA, or an equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
• Good written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.
