Position Summary

Lead commercial, contractual, procurement, and project delivery activities across the TSP/NTI project portfolio.

Align contracting strategies, procurement decisions, delivery plans, governance, timelines, and budgets with project objectives.

The position is based at KAUST and includes occasional travel within the Kingdom and abroad.

Major Accountabilities

  • Support project development, delivery planning, governance, scope definition, milestone tracking, stakeholder coordination, and reporting.
  • Support procurement strategy, tendering, and contracting for goods, works, and services.
  • Support Legal and Procurement with complex commercial and technical agreements under FIDIC and other frameworks.
  • Prepare risk assessments and advise on risk allocation, payment mechanisms, warranties, insurance, and performance security.
  • Ensure compliance with Saudi law, KAUST governance standards, and international requirements.
  • Monitor KPIs, deliverables, cost, schedule, quality, and stakeholder obligations.
  • Administer variations, extensions of time, and claims with cost and schedule impact analysis.
  • Lead or support negotiations with contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
  • Provide commercial input to budgeting, cost forecasting, schedule planning, and project controls.
  • Prepare risk registers, commercial dashboards, project status reports, and contract summaries.
  • Coordinate with project, technical, procurement, legal, insurance, audit, consultant, and contractor stakeholders.
  • Develop commercial procedures and contract administration and project delivery support frameworks.

Qualifications

  • A master's degree in engineering, construction law, quantity surveying, project management, or a related discipline is mandatory.
  • PMP certification is mandatory.
  • An engineering degree or strong engineering project background is strongly preferred.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in construction law, contract management, commercial management, or project management are advantageous.
  • MRICS, MCIArb, RICS candidate status, or an equivalent certification is advantageous.
  • Training in risk management, procurement, project controls, commercial management, or dispute resolution is beneficial.

Experience and Competencies

  • Preferably 6–8 years of overall experience in commercial, contracts, project controls, and project delivery roles.
  • Experience in large-scale construction, EPC, infrastructure, industrial, research, or technically complex projects.
  • Experience with FIDIC and other standard contract forms, variations, claims, extensions of time, and dispute resolution.
  • Experience with risk registers, governance, compliance, project reporting, and delivery tracking.
  • Strong leadership, organization, negotiation, analytical, communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and risk analysis software such as OPRA.

The role is fast-paced and requires leadership, sound judgment, project delivery discipline, and commercial acumen.
