The Role

  • We are seeking an experienced Commercial & Contracts Director to lead the commercial and contractual function for a high profile hospitality development.
  • This leadership role is responsible for driving commercial strategy, overseeing contract administration, managing project risk, and ensuring successful commercial delivery across all stages of the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all commercial and contractual activities across major hospitality and mixed use developments.
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximise project performance and profitability.
  • Oversee contract drafting, negotiation, administration, and execution.
  • Manage commercial risk, claims, variations, and dispute resolution.
  • Provide strategic commercial advice to senior leadership and project teams.
  • Lead procurement and tendering activities, including consultant and subcontractor appointments.
  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and commercial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Build, mentor, and lead high performing commercial and contracts teams.
  • Establish and continuously improve commercial governance, processes, and controls.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
  • Minimum 20 years' experience in commercial and contracts management.
  • At least 10 years of experience delivering major luxury hospitality or 5 star hotel projects.
  • Extensive experience within an engineering, architecture, project management, or multidisciplinary consultancy.
  • Advanced knowledge of FIDIC contracts, contract administration, commercial management, procurement, and claims.
  • Demonstrated experience leading commercial teams on large, complex developments.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen with experience managing major project budgets.
  • Excellent negotiation, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making capabilities.
  • MRICS or equivalent professional accreditation is highly desirable.
