Role overview

The role bridges aircraft engineering design and project execution for cabin retrofit and upgrade solutions.

The engineer manages project scope, planning, stakeholders, subcontractors, risks, technical documentation, and customer delivery.

Project and engineering challenges

  • Define project objectives, deliverables, timelines, and aircraft modification plans.
  • Manage program enablers, dependencies, risks, subcontractors, costs, and schedules.
  • Translate technical aircraft information into business-friendly project updates.
  • Develop cabin retrofit solutions from architecture definition through detailed design.
  • Create and review engineering drawings and define required modification parts kits.
  • Support certification planning, airworthiness compliance, and technical query resolution.
  • Provide direct technical support to airline customers and MRO teams during onsite embodiment.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aeronautic, civil, or electrical engineering with at least 6 years of engineering experience, or a master’s degree with at least 4 years of engineering experience.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Direct exposure to project or program engineering methodologies.
  • Airline, MRO, hangar, and aircraft-cabin modification experience is preferred.

Technical skills

  • Create, interpret, and review designs using industry-standard CAD tools such as CATIA.
  • Read and cross-reference Service Bulletins, Bills of Materials, and customer modification requirements.
  • Understand aircraft certification planning and regulatory support for airworthiness compliance.
  • Use Google Workspace or Google Suite for documentation and project tracking.
  • Python or another programming language is preferred.

Technical publications and regulations

  • Experience with Illustrated Parts Catalogs and ATA technical manuals such as AMM and SRM is preferred.
  • Familiarity with FAA or EASA regulations for aircraft parts procurement, technical documentation, and product traceability is preferred.

Communication and collaboration

  • Build and maintain an internal network with colleagues across global Airbus sites.
  • Collaborate with airline clients, external partners, airworthiness authorities, and cross-functional Airbus organizations.
  • Present project status, risks, and strategies clearly to management in technical English.
  • Use analytical judgment and information from varied sources to develop risk-mitigation approaches.

Work environment
