Job Purpose
To develop and maintain strong business relationships with existing brokers / business partners to understand their insurance requirements, provide technical guidance and maximize cross selling opportunities.
To generate a sales pipeline by prospecting new accounts within targeted underwriting segments to ensure future sales opportunities and profitable growth.
To perform underwriting for all Commercial Lines requests coming from allocated brokers / business partners within P&C CL.
Key Responsibilities
- The job holder expected to build strong relationships across the business community with brokers and business partners allocated providing superior customer service with problem solving mindset.
- The job holder will exercise underwriting power in line with the GIG Gulf Underwiring Guidelines, within authority limits and criteria delegated by Director of P&C CL / Regional Office.
- The job holder expected to identify and maximize sales opportunities, promote the company’s products, and meet defined annual sales targets/business plan via different distribution channels.
- The job holder is accountable for sharing prospects and business development leads through the effective utilisation of the Company’s Prospect Database available in the form of CRM, Quote Register and Sales pipeline.
- The job holder will ensure that all underwriting activity is appropriately authorized in line with framework of company’s underwriting philosophy, delegated authority limits established, all enquiries are supported by complete underwriting information, refer to the Underwriting Manager/P&C CL Country Head where delegated authority limits are exceeded.
- For enquiries / risks referred to the Underwriting Manager/P&C CL Country Head the job holder will be responsible for ensuring that such referrals are supported by the necessary documentation, including but not limited to;
- full and complete underwriting information
- underwriting recommendations on rating and terms
- details of supporting business
- -other commercial considerations if any.
- The job holder would be responsible to manage an efficient renewal process of business allocated in conjunction with the production team, provide market feedback that will help in increasing P&C CL retention ratio.
- The job holder to follow strict SLA with brokers / Business Partners allocated, ensuring documents are dispatched/delivered to the brokers/direct clients within the SLA agreed and that appropriate records are maintained.
- The job holder is responsible for ensuring insurance premium is collected in line with the Company’s credit policy, work with credit control team to minimize outstanding debt
- The job holder is responsible for performing any other related duties as required to support the activities and overall strategic directions to ensure the profitability of the company.
Essential Requirements
- The job requires a tertiary level education
- Minimum of 5 years of Business Development/ Account Management experience is a MUST
- 2 years of experience of P&C CL Underwriting
- Detailed knowledge of multiple insurance products, competitors and competitor products and pricing models.
- Good knowledge of underwriting guidelines, risk assessment, authority levels and protocols.
- Familiar and good relationship with the broker community in the Abu Dhabi
- Demonstrated business savvy, analytical and quantitative skills with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Professional demeanor in verbal and written communications internally and externally
- Stress & Time Management skills
- Presentation & Negotiating skills
Desirable
- Preferably the job requires either CII or equivalent professional qualifications MBA.
