Role Overview
Biomedical Engineers install, test, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain medical equipment while supporting safe, reliable patient care.
The role supports equipment used in maternity, labor and delivery, neonatal intensive care, gynecology, women’s health, and outpatient services.
Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, test, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment across the hospital.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and repair equipment failures to minimize downtime.
- Manage fetal monitors, ultrasound systems, incubators, radiant warmers, ventilators, infusion pumps, phototherapy units, patient monitors, and breast imaging equipment.
- Conduct safety inspections and performance testing in line with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, calibration, and inventory records.
- Evaluate technologies, recommend equipment purchases, and assist with acceptance testing and commissioning.
- Coordinate vendors and service providers for repairs, maintenance contracts, and technical support.
- Train clinical and non-clinical staff on proper equipment use.
- Support risk management, compliance, emergency preparedness, utilization monitoring, lifecycle planning, and patient safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering.
- Required experience in departments such as labor and delivery, women’s urgent care, postnatal care, NICU, or PICU.
