Role Overview

The Benefits Manager will oversee and optimize Qatar Airways' global insured benefits programs and ensure they remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with business objectives.

The role includes managing complex employee cases, maintaining relationships with brokers and insurers, and leading benefits design and benchmarking initiatives.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversee administration and governance of global medical, life, disability, personal accident, wellness, and other employee benefit programs.
  • Develop global benefit strategies aligned with business objectives and the employee value proposition.
  • Lead annual insurance renewals and negotiate premiums, coverage terms, policy enhancements, and contracts.
  • Manage insurers, brokers, consultants, and third-party administrators while monitoring service delivery and contractual obligations.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex medical, disability, critical illness, insurance dispute, and death-in-service cases.
  • Analyze benefit utilization, claims experience, demographic profiles, cost trends, and financial performance.
  • Conduct market benchmarking and design or enhance benefit schemes across diverse workforce populations.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, insurance regulations, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Lead market reviews, tender exercises, benefit evaluations, and healthcare cost management initiatives.
  • Prepare business cases, management reports, governance papers, executive presentations, and strategic recommendations.
  • Monitor vendor performance and collaborate with HR, Finance, Legal, Occupational Health, Procurement, and leadership teams.
  • Lead employee communications and education and support mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, and international mobility initiatives.

Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of job-related experience in employee benefits, insurance, rewards, human resources, or benefits consulting.
  • A relevant bachelor's degree.
  • Strong knowledge of medical insurance, life insurance, disability programs, wellbeing initiatives, and global employee benefits practices.
  • Experience managing insurers, brokers, third-party administrators, and external consultants.
  • Experience in benefits design, benchmarking, market reviews, vendor negotiations, and strategic benefits management.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, including experience with utilization, claims data, cost trends, and pricing models.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across all organizational levels.
  • Experience interacting with senior management and providing commercially focused, client-oriented solutions.
  • Strong understanding of multinational regulatory environments and employee benefit governance principles.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in managing evolving business needs and organizational change.
