The Avionics Qualification Lab Technician supports the operation, maintenance, and hardware support for our Avionics lab. The technician will work with Test engineers to translate engineering and system drawings into functional rack-based test configurations, support lab readiness, and help maintain accountability for equipment and materials.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable building, wiring, troubleshooting, and improving physical avionics test environments. The successful candidate should understand avionics hardware well enough to integrate equipment safely, follow signal and power paths, identify issues, and collaborate effectively with test and integration engineers.
What You Will Do
Lab Operations, Property & Inventory
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on lab equipment, racks, cabling, workstations, and support infrastructure.
Maintain accurate equipment, configuration, calibration, maintenance, and inventory records.
Support accountability for vendor-furnished and customer-owned equipment, including labeling, tracking, secure storage, and audit readiness.
Assist with shipping, receiving, packing-list verification, material handling, and equipment movement.

Build, modify, inspect, and repair custom cable assemblies, harnesses, breakout boxes, and related hardware.
Perform crimping, soldering, shielding, connector assembly, and wire routing.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, pinouts, wiring diagrams, and system drawings.
Create or update basic cable and system drawings using Visio or similar tools when needed.
Apply safe wire maintenance and power-handling practices to protect personnel and equipment.
Monitor bench stock, consumables, and commonly used wire-maintenance materials; identify replenishment needs.
Help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and customer-ready laboratory.
Avionics Hardware Integration
Integrate, rack, stack, wire, and configure avionics equipment within engineering lab environments.
Turn engineering concepts, schematics, and system drawings into functional test setups.
Troubleshoot physical integration issues involving signal paths, power, wiring, connectors, and lab interfaces.
Work closely with the avionics test engineers to maintain stable, repeatable test configurations.
RF & Communications Test Support
Support testing involving VHF, HF, SATCOM, datalink, and other avionics communications systems.
Use spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and equivalent test equipment.
Perform or assist with cable-loss, return-loss, VSWR, signal-integrity, and distance-to-fault measurements.
Understand basic RF behavior and safely support RF test paths across a variety of frequencies.
Assist with controlled lab testing while partnering with engineers who perform deeper data analysis and demodulation.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
Hands-on avionics, aircraft electrical, aerospace electronics, test-lab, or comparable experience.
Demonstrated experience with avionics wiring, hardware integration, cable fabrication, or wire maintenance.
Experience reading and working from schematics, wiring diagrams, pinouts, and system drawings.
Hands-on experience with crimping, soldering, shielding, connector termination, and cable routing.
Working experience with electrical power and safe integration practices for avionics equipment.
Practical troubleshooting experience at the wiring, cable, rack, equipment, and system-integration level.
Qualifications We Prefer
Commercial/transport aircraft avionics, aircraft electrician, aviation electronics, or related technical-school background.
Experience supporting an avionics test bed or lab, flight-test environment, or aerospace research and development lab.
Customer or Vendor property, inventory, shipping/receiving, or audit-readiness experience.
Exposure to ARINC 429, IP, Ethernet, ACARS, or other avionics communication architectures.
Experience with VHF, HF, SATCOM, or aircraft datalink systems.
