Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicle panels before painting and identify surface defects
- Prepare surfaces by sanding, filling, smoothing, and removing imperfections
- Mask vehicle areas to protect adjacent surfaces
- Apply primers and prepare panels for paint application
- Mix paint according to manufacturer specifications
- Match colors accurately using color codes and tinting systems
- Adjust paint mixtures to achieve perfect color match
- Apply base coat, clear coat, and specialty finishes
- Ensure smooth, even coverage with no defects
- Monitor drying and curing times
- Polish painted surfaces when required
- Inspect finished surfaces for color match, gloss, and defects such as runs, dust, or scratches
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Diploma or certification in Automotive Body & Paint or related trade (preferred)
- Proven experience in automotive painting and refinishing
- Experience working with premium or luxury vehicles preferred
- Familiarity with water based and solvent based paint systems
- Knowledge of manufacturer paint specifications and repair standards
- Strong knowledge of automotive paint systems and refinishing techniques
- Skilled in spray gun operation and paint application
- Excellent color matching ability
- Strong attention to detail and precision
- Good manual dexterity and hand eye coordination
- Time management and productivity skills
