Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Control Room Engineer/System Controller for electricity and steam generation
- Monitor control equipment and plant parameters for safe and efficient operation
- Operate plant to generate and distribute electrical power as per daily plan
- Observe gas turbines, HRSGs, and steam turbines operating parameters
- Collect operational data for performance monitoring and invoicing
- Initiate start up and shutdown of plant equipment as instructed
- Monitor total system conditions including gas, steam, compressed air, and fuel systems
- Report temperature, vibration, and other operational alarms
- Observe fuel consumption, frequency, voltage, and current
- Communicate plant abnormalities to field operators and supervisors
- Train subordinates as required
- Raise work requests and store requests as directed
Requirements
- Experience in power plant operations and switching systems
- Knowledge of gas turbines, HRSGs, and steam turbines
- Ability to monitor and respond to operational alarms
- Strong communication skills for coordination with field operators and supervisors

Key Accountabilities
- Coordinate with the Control Room Engineer/System Controller and carry out instructions relating to the generation of electricity and steam.
- Monitor control equipment and all parameters associated with related plant equipment and services in a safe and efficient manner.
- At Jebel Ali site, support the supply of power to both the Jebel Ali site and third party customers.
- Operate the plant as instructed to ensure electrical power is safely and efficiently generated and distributed in line with the daily operational plan.
- Observe Gas Turbines, HRSGs and Steam Turbines operating parameters and ensure maximum steam generation.
- Control and assist in the collection of accurate and reliable operational data to monitor performance against targets and ensure accurate invoicing to third party customers.
- Initiate start up and shutdown of various plant and equipment as instructed by the Control Room Engineer/System Controller.
- Monitor total system conditions at all times, including gas systems, steam systems, compressed air systems, fuel systems, etc.
- Report temperature alarms, vibration alarms and any other alarms relevant to plant operations.
- Observe fuel consumption, frequency, voltage and current to ensure proper power generation and smelter operation.
- Ensure operational routines are performed promptly.
- Communicate with Field Operators, the Control Room Engineer/System Controller and Supervisor regarding any plant abnormalities requiring corrective action.
