Role Objective

The Assistant Store Manager, Operations is a critical member of the store leadership team.

The role brings operational strategy to life through inventory management, labor planning, and scheduling.

The role focuses on keeping the store customer-ready, efficient, and effective.

This is an evergreen posting for ongoing consideration, including when no immediate opening is available.

Operations Leadership

  • Oversee and support execution of key operational processes.
  • Investigate inventory accuracy issues, determine root causes, and escalate process or system gaps.
  • Champion operational standards on the sales floor using business performance data.
  • Coordinate accurate inventory counts and labor hours for receiving product deliveries.
  • Support a safe work environment and efficient store operation.

Business Leadership

  • Represent the business in meetings and conference calls with the General Manager.
  • Review and monitor budgets, reporting, expenses, sell-through metrics, and other business data.
  • Inform quarterly business reviews, sales planning, and other planning processes.
  • Plan future workflow and business needs to protect optimal performance.

People Leadership

  • Lead the Operations team through accountability, regular coaching, talent development, and effective communication.
  • Build internal and external talent pipelines through succession planning and recruitment strategy.
  • Write effective schedules that prioritize business strategy in partnership with the General Manager.
  • Communicate the company's mission and guiding principles to visitors through the Operations team.

Business Partnership

  • Oversee execution of assigned deliverables within the sales and service model.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager, Store Manager, and cross-functional business partners.
  • Balance business needs with brand culture while supporting organizational goals.

Leadership Qualifications

  • Prior leadership experience in retail or a related industry is required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
  • Strong verbal and written interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a changing environment is required.
  • Independent work ethic, time management, and personal accountability are required.

Schedule

  • This is a full-time role with a 40-hour workweek across five days.
  • Full-time employees are expected to be available for opening, closing, and weekend shifts.
  • Schedules may change to support business and team needs.

Workplace

  • The role supports operations in an ALO retail store and is designated onsite.
